It is with great sadness and many, many wonderful memories that we, The Meridian Family – the owners, returning renters and staff, are saying goodbye and farewell to our manager Lee McLauchlan.
Lee has decided that it is time to return to Scotland to be closer to her Mom Pam, who won’t admit it, but will greatly benefit from her support.
I am going to digress slightly with a little history about Lee. I was a member of the Board at Pan Cayman House (PCH). This was a 10-unit condominium complex built in 1969 on the site of The
Meridian. In the late 80’s we hired Lee as our new manager. She was formerly the head flight attendant for Cayman Air but had no experience in managing rental condominiums. This however did not present a problem as her cheerful manner, wonderful people skills, work ethic, boundless enthusiasm and energy made PCH thrive. The PCH was a family oriented facility with staff, owners and renters who came back year after year creating a team that made it one of the most popular locations on 7 mile beach.
Several years later when the infrastructure of a 1960’s construction finally could not function efficiently the PCH owners made the decision to rebuild creating The Meridian – a more modern functional and larger complex but maintaining the established roots of teamwork and family and caring and pride in the new facility.
Lee remained our manager bringing all the same leadership and strong interpersonal characteristics that has shaped it into what it is today. She has given her heart and soul to The Meridian. For that we will be ever grateful.
We wish her well in Scotland and send her positive thoughts from all of us – we know she will miss all of us as we unquestionably miss her.
